GoToConnect Review
GotoConnect, formerly known as Jive, is a hot new upstart in the VOIP industry. The company was founded in 2006 but has come on strong in recent years due to glowing customer reviews and mentions on high-profile websites like Forbes.com. After substantial growth, the company was bought by GoTo and folded into the grab bag of communication offerings the company has in its efforts to rival companies like Zoom.
GotoConnect is still a very good offering, with the ability to help a company run its communications as well or better than most VoIP providers. The system has 80 billed telephone features, a great set.
With that being said, Jive’s pricing was never clear or user-friendly, and after becoming GotoConnect, that has continued. You can’t even see the VoIP product prices on the website, as you need to contact sales to get a quote. You know what that means: pushy salespeople, upselling, and “special rates”. It is not befitting a phone system made for small businesses to put people who are interested in your product through that.

Why is MightyCall the best alternative to GoToConnect?
Goto bought Jive and brought it under the company’s giant umbrella, but reviews and feedback haven’t improved since the acquisition. Goto saw a hot commodity and paid them to do the same thing for them, but there haven’t been improvements or upgrades. With Goto focusing on numerous different business products, VoIP is not their only focus, leaving questions as to how the product will develop in the coming years.
The Cheap Plan has Nothing
This is not criticizing GotoConnect’s cheap plan, dubbed Basic. Rather, it is a criticism of the company for having a cheap option that they barely include any features or power in. People are not legitimately meant to buy this plan, as it exists solely to make the more expensive Standard plan look full of features.
To get access to the 80+ features and unlimited minutes GotoConnect offers, you need the Standard or Premium plan. For another company that has switched to per-user charges in the past few years, that means a bill that gets expensive quickly.
MightyCall is Straightforward
MightyCall’s new Business plan is direct and fair in its pricing: $20 per user, with 3 or more users. For that, you get 2 phone numbers, local or toll-free, and the majority of features GotoConnect has (save for a few, like faxing and “spying” on your employees’ calls).
With key upgrades like CRM capabilities and more available integrations, MightyCall is improving the product out in the open, while GotoConnect tries to get by on its acquisition’s goodwill while it shields prices from the public.

Conclusion
Don’t get on the hype train just for the sake of it—test out different VoIP systems before you decide. For a company that has joined a communications empire and wants to cater to big business, everyday small and medium businesses shouldn’t jump through hoops to get the product.
